A Healer’s Worth….

Recently on Facebook a colleague asked the question:

Do you think most healers struggle to also maintain a successful business?

There have been a number of provocative responses to the question and this has stirred up a lot within me as well.

You may or may not know that I spent most of the earlier years of my working life in the real estate business – I was pretty Type A, heady and masculine in my orientation to life and work – always on the go, always active and always working – 12-15 hour days were more the norm than the exception.

Then I broke open and experienced my own spiritual awakening which led to two full years of non-doing – meditating, making art, creating jewelry, sitting on the floor playing with angel cards, channeling, talking to Source/Spirit/God and healing, one day at a time.

From there the journey took me into bringing my new found gifts back out into the world again and I opened a healing arts center and visionary art gallery where I spent two years really coming into my own as a spiritual healer, teacher and leader in the community and going deeply into debt and losing money hand over fist with a business that wasn’t working financially.

The quest for balance in my life has been ongoing for the last decade.  How to allow the self to “Be” and at the same time to actively engage in the world of doing?  Once the gallery was closed I had to find a new way – I stepped out into the world actively bringing my healing gifts to other places and spaces – teaching about auras, chakras, power animals, intuition, crystals and more.  I played crystal singing bowl healing concerts at a number of events, cut an award winning cd Divine Union A Crystal Singing Bowl Healing Journey and wrote and self published a channeled book (Celestial Voices – An Invitation to Ascension from the Arch Angels – available in ebook form now since the cat peed on all my remaining hard copies last year).  Financially things were still not working – I was making just enough to keep on going (water in the desert years) and was continuing to receive the guidance that I was on the right path but that didn’t help when I looked at the outstanding balances on my credit cards and the dwindling savings that was left from my previous career.

Pretty soon it became clear I needed to make another change – AHA!!! The INTERNET!! That’s where I’ll be able to really get my message out into the world – perhaps I’m meant to be a MESSENGER – and I discovered and became one of the founding consultants who midwifed the birthing of a little movement called “The Messenger Network”  I spent a whole year engaged in the network doing free teleclasses, attempting to sell ECourse platforms, and co-creating and heavily marketing the Messenger Mini Book program along with a variety of other programs that were dreamt up to help messengers get their message out into the world.   I was the first (there’s that Type A thing again!) in line with publishing my mini-book – Magical Questions – A Spiral Journey to Spiritual Awakening – but 1 book wasn’t enough for me I actually wrote 3 – Angel ABC’s followed Magical Questions and I still have Stone Medicine sitting on my computer unreleased.

By Spring 2009 the promise of making money with the Messenger Network was still unfulfilled although I had learned a great deal about how to create and give away a ton of content and I had built somewhat of a list – a list of people who were trained to get stuff for free and who rarely if ever actually purchased anything.  By this time I was also divorcing for the second time and really feeling close to the end of my rope financially.    One day an email arrived from Suzanne Falter Barns – an internet based coach who I had taken a course from back in 2003 – she was promoting a friend of her’s Lisa Sasevich who was co-teaching with Kevin Nations a teleclass leading into a live event called MONETIZE YOUR MISSION.

Can you say YEP!!! That’s what I need to do now – like right now – sooner rather than later.

This led me into the world of delivering my gifts in a much more leveraged way – serving groups of people simultaneously – delivering the energy transmissions along with practical teaching and guidance and to the development with my Divine Business Partner of the CORE PATH – Energy Foundations For Divine Wealth Intensive.  I do believe I’ve finally found the “Sweet Spot” where my gifts and the exchange that I receive for them is fair and true.  Where I am in balance and focused and concentrated on serving in the highest way possible and where I am positioned to help others make a strong and powerful bridge between the practical and the spiritual.  This is the place where all of my life experience is coming together (along with that of my Divine Business Partner) and where we are able to help others who are healers (or messengers or teachers or coaches or trainers or artists or performers or some combination of all of these – multidimensional beings!) to stop the struggle and to come into right relationship with their business.  To be in a beautiful balance between the being and the doing.  To be of service to THEIR people in the highest and most joyful way possible.

What I know to be true from this vantage point on the journey is that the continuous calling from Source to INVEST in myself and in my business – again and again – and the continuous calling to TRUST that the exact right MENTOR and experience that I needed to have would be presented to me exactly on time – again and again – and the willingness on my part to take INSPIRED ACTION is what allowed me to come into balance in the end.  Who knows where the road will lead from here – I do!  It will lead to continued growth, evolution, learning, serving, enjoyment, beauty, truth, goodness, blessings, abundant wealth and leaving a legacy for those who are to come!

There are a lot of healers out there who are struggling to maintain a successful business – and there are also a lot of business people out there who are struggling to heal.  Perhaps the time has come for the bridge to be built between the two – for the exchange to be fair going in both directions.  Perhaps you are one who is ready to make the crossing?  I’d love to know your thoughts!

Staying Home….

I’m in the Sassy Mastermind – one of Lisa Sasevich’s highly invested clients – this weekend is her big event BIG MISSION, BIG SALES, BIG LIFE – and I’m home.

I have to tell you it’s bittersweet – I’m here for a few reasons. First off I’m here because this is my weekend to be mom. Last year mom did a lot of traveling – mom made a mistake thinking that the boy was old enough now and could handle her absence – in mom’s absence some stuff happened – normal stuff – teenage stuff – stuff that is expected – but wasn’t really expected for some reason by me. It’s not my fault that the stuff happened but it triggered an old wound – another time when mom was absent – a time long ago when the boy was a toddler – and that old wound is still healing I guess. Guilt is a heavy thing – it can really hobble your forward movement. Working my own medicine on this one is part of what is happening while I sit here with my calendar clear on the days that were booked for me to attend this event.

I’m here because I made some big investment choices this year that just didn’t turn out the way I had planned. I invested my $$ in the creation and production of the 6 Figure Speakers Summit and while everything on the OUTSIDE looked like it was perfectly in place to be a big success – on the inside something else all together was going on – which was reflected in a big way in the financial results from the event. I invested heavily in Kevin Nations Love Mastermind at the Diamond level – a decision that was guided by my heart – and was completely irrational if you looked at it from the practical perspective – one that has already paid off and will continue to pay off for the rest of my life in terms of what I’m learning – and I’ve been sabotaging my own progress – repeatedly in this program. I invested in staying on with Lisa again for another year – again a decision guided by the heart and not really practical financially based upon my other present obligations – another choice that has paid off HANDSOMELY and will continue for the rest of my life to pay off – I’ve sabotaged myself here too – not following the program – but needing to do it “MY” way – has cost – Lisa told me in the spring to be careful of doing a summit – did I listen??? NO! (Old trauma with authority figures and teachers maybe?)

I’m also here because I need to be – I need to have some down time – I need to rest – I need to integrate – I need to re-focus – I need to let go of some more stuff inner and outer – I need to be ok with being here instead of being there – I need to accept that at least for the time being I have yet to master being in two places physically at the same time – and truth be told I need to SLOW DOWN and be much more mindful about exactly how and where I’m spending my time, money and energy. I have been making mistakes – too many of them for my liking – also exactly what I need to be doing – in order to have some learning – about myself – about what motivates me – about what I want to motivate me.  I need to forgive myself for all of them – every single one.

I’m sitting here in this space – happy too!  I am happy for the extra time with my son – who is now over my head and out the door most of the time – happy for the extra time with my Divine Business Partner Mikael Sami-Kumara – happy that we spent the second half of today in deep ceremony and ritual interacting with the energy field and the Deva of our divine business and happy that I have the opportunity to create some beauty in my home – I started painting my spare bedroom and beading area at mid-day – a lovely shade – Midwest Spring – a beautiful relaxing and invigorating blue – pictures to come!  I am happy I have some time to write too! It feels like it’s been too long since I wrote from the heart. I am happy that I made time to make a nice big pot of soup – Portobella Mushroom and Lentil – haven’t made that since last winter.  I’m happy doing all the little things that make me happy – even cleaned out the garage yesterday when I would otherwise have been flying – put all the  yard furniture away for the winter too.

Today I gave myself a little gift – to some it might not seem like one but to me it really was! I spent the morning – the morning that was booked on my calendar as a day to be sitting in one of those seats – sitting at my desk instead – I spent the entire morning – sorting through my pictures folder and uploading my favorite Rose photos to my Fine Art America online gallery. You know what??? I LOVED it – I LOVE LOVE LOVE these photos – I’m not done yet with this little project and every folder I open is holding magical surprises for me – I am taken to the moments when the beauty was captured – I am taken out into nature into the time of abundant blossoming – I am returned to the early promise of spring and the growing season of summer – I am reminded of one of my many gifts – a gift that may or may not be as highly valued in the marketplace as some of my other gifts, but one that is CERTAINLY valuable to me. I am grateful that I have the eyes to see and the ears to hear. I know when it’s time to act and when to be still. I am returned to a remembrance of trust and knowing that all is exactly as it should be in this moment. I am at peace.

You Better KNOW Who Your Friends Are on Facebook – Even if They are HORSES!

I’ve had an interesting week on Facebook this week – (Mercury Retrograde – I do love the little and large challenges you throw into the mix to see just how relaxed I can stay!) - early in the week  I was kicked off because someone on the other side of the country is helping me with the social media campaign for my 6 Figure Speakers Summit (http://www.budurl.com/6figspk) and Facebook didn’t like that – oh no – not at all – so because the system saw this “foreign” IP as a security threat to my account it shut the account down. The VA had to contact me to get my birthday – but that wasn’t enough – later that day when I logged in I couldn’t. I had to go through this interesting security check which required me to identify several of my friends – now the friend pictures ARE NOT their profile pictures – and they gave me sometimes one or sometimes two pictures – I had to id a certain number within a certain sequence of being presented these pix. I was fine until I came upon a picture of someone in black and white from the 50’s – GOD knows who it was and wasn’t sharing with me at the moment. So I got blocked and had to wait a couple of hours to try again….. Try again I did and thankfully was able to id several – enough that FB let me in.

Then yesterday I got blocked AGAIN – this time ostensibly because I had unleashed some sort of a virus into my account – by opening a video – however when I went to the security check – this time I was asked to virus scan my computer and there was NOTHING wrong on my end. Even though I virus scanned and checked the little box confirming that I STILL couldn’t get in. So I’ve waited overnight until this morning to try once more.

Hey there friend - How's the grazing today?

This morning I got through the virus thing but then had to once more do the Identify your friends picture thing. You need to be able to id 5 of 7 of your friends – now I have close to 4000 so there’s a whole bunch of friends for fb to choose from…… This morning 2 of the 7 were – the black and white picture from the 50’s again and get this one – a picture of a HORSE – no lie – there was a picture of a horse – twice on the page and I had a list of like 7 names to choose from that would be the friend that was the HORSE. Thank GOD I could id 5 of the 7 because if I not I’d still be wandering outside facebook not even being able to look in……

Hey Patrick - Break A Leg!

The moral of this story is – KNOW YOUR FRIENDS – not just their profile pics but actually WHO They are and the sorts of things they are interested in – One of the pic selections I got happened to be 2 different shots of one of my friends (and a SPEAKER on my 6 Figure Speakers Summit (http://www.budurl.com/6figspk) Patrick Combs. So the pictures didn’t actually SHOW Patrick’s face AT all – one picture was of a bunch of people on a stage with MASKS ON!! The other picture – thankfully was a shot of a POSTER for Patrick’s One Man show – Man 1 Bank Zero. Thank God I didn’t get a sheep or cow or goat or something instead of the poster!

The second moral of the story is this: If you are promoting, launching, marketing some big event like I am right now (The 6 Figure Speakers Summit) – you better have friends who can get into Facebook to help you promote it – which is why I simultaneously launched my Divine Partners Program (http://www.budurl.com/6figaff) and have over 100 affiliates promoting the event and that you better NOT put all your eggs in one promotional basket – which is why I’m holding THREE Preview calls – (we already had call one – if you want the recording go to http://www.budurl.com/6figpc1 – our second is TODAY August 26 at 11 AM  – http://www.budurl.com/6figpc2) and it’s also why I’m doing blog posts, sending out tweets, and posting in other places like Linked-In and am using a variety of media including video which is being distributed to over a hundred video outlets so that I am not depending on Facebook to be the sole marketing engine for my launch!

The third moral of the story is this: If things go sideways it’s an opportunity!! An opportunity for you to take a deep breath, trust, another deep breath, trust, another deep breath, trust and then see where you CAN do something. Wallowing in what you are NOT able to do serves no one – getting yourself together, centered, clear, calm, relaxed, balanced and present will allow you to see the opportunity and capitalize upon what you CAN do. Like this morning – I’m celebrating that I CAN get in to facebook because I DO Know who my friends are – and I can also SHARE this wisdom with YOU!!

Getting Perspective

I’ve been back  for over a month now from Lisa Sasevich’s Speak to Sell Bootcamp and let me tell you what – I’ve received some pretty powerful shifts in awareness from being there. 

Not only did I discover that I needed to do my OWN WORK of shifting energy to get UNSTUCK from my own resistance to applying the teachings that Lisa so Masterfully conveys and models consistently every time I have the opportunity to witness her delivering her blessing, but I also was invited to “SEE” where I am now in relationship to where I was a year ago!

One of the things that Lisa invited us to do was to create a bio for speaking – and in the crafting of that bio she encouraged us to be both authentic and unabashedly promote ourselves so that we can in fact be SEEN as the EXPERTS that we ARE!

The beauty of this little exercise for me was that I actually was able to recognize and realize that I have done A LOT of great stuff in the last year.  I was able to SEE just how many wonderful people that I have shared the stage with and to recognize that I’m actually UP THERE WITH THEM – and not still down in the audience wishing, hoping and visioning!  I actually got to SEE that I have moved – Powerfully so – into my own vision!

When I sat down to review the past year I discovered much to my surprise and delight that I have “shared the stage” with some of the biggest experts in both the conscious entrepreneurship and internet based marketing arena as well as in the alternative healing and consciousness raising new thought arena.  When I took a look at the list I had to stop and catch my breath for a minute and say WOW!  I mean REALLY – WOW! (check out the list below!)

As someone who believes fully in the joy being in the journey I think that sometimes we get caught up in the mechanics of the journey part and might miss those all important stopping points along the path that allow us to celebrate our accomplishments, to rest, to restore our energy for the next leg, and to reconnect with either our original vision or with Spirit to check in to see if the vision has been updated and upgraded.

Thanks Lisa for helping me to Get Perspective – as one who SEES myself I often am in the position with my clients to help them to reveal those things within their own business where they are either stuck or hung up thinking that they can’t change, let go or move onto a new venture or playing field.  Part of what I help my clients with is teaching them to keep SCORE in their business.  I use my signature SCORE System which is taught in the Core Path Intensive to lead them through a variety of Power Point Practices that not only help to clear the fear but that they can also integrate into their own routines so that when another paralyzing challenge comes along they have the tools in their tool box to at least begin the process of handling any fears that may arise.  Keeping SCORE is the way that we can determine whether or not we are succeeding against the goals that we have set for ourselves both at the physical and the spiritual levels.  Because the SCORE system is both deeply intuitive as well as highly structured my clients are able to achieve astonishing results and enjoy their own Spiritual Energized Entrepreneurial Success.

This fall I‘m planning a big tele-event which you’ll be hearing more about shortly – If you are stuck in the conversations or communications aspects of any area of your business this event is packed with powerful mentors and teachers that will be delivering outstanding training and coaching as well as offering opportunities to go deeper with them.   Be sure to look in the blog for more details as the summer wanes.

After my event is concluded, I do intend to take on new clients again for another Energy Journey through the Core Path Intensive – which is delivered in a small group format – I am very choosy about who I work with – my clients must be invested in every way in their desire to be of service through their own work and so I have a very thorough vetting process to ensure not only a high degree of success but also a high caliber of peers with whom to share the journey.  I have found in my own journey that when you aspire to something it’s important to seek out those mentors and peer groups that will grow you rather than be content to leave you sitting in your comfort zone of “everything’s fine” mediocrity.  I welcome your application if this type of group work is of interest and if you feel you are ready to take your game and your business to the next level.  Please fill out the application HERE and one of our team members will contact you to initiate the vetting process.

Why is JOY so Nebulous?

(SUBTITLE – JUMPING FOR JOY!)

I’m just back and finally re-aligned with the home/office environment following an almost 2 week journey to the southwest that was filled with transformation, synchronicity and a calling to go deeper, look wider and play bigger.  The sign above was in the airport on my way out of town back in mid January – too funny how prophetic it was for me!

Part one of my trip was spent in Las Vegas in the Love Your Clients, Love Your Business, Love Your Life event with Kevin Nations. There I was able to connect and play with many soul family members and I was called to really take a flying leap of faith and invest – HEAVILY – in myself and my business – becoming a DIAMOND Mastermind Client in Kevin’s Love Mastermind 2010. I’ll be deeply engaged in the process and practice of learning how to care for myself so much better, to serve my clients with much greater abandon and to craft and create experiences for both myself and my clients that are deeply, powerfully and passionately transformative. I’m really ready to soar now and I think that this little investment in myself and my business is going to provide the ROCKET FUEL for taking off in a big way. Since our thoughts create our reality – staying focused on that thought is going to be a powerful tool for me to work with in the coming months when the fear storms and panic parties decide to make a visit!

During the second half of my adventure (the Sassy Mastermind with Lisa Sasevich – held in Tucson at Miraval Spa & Resort) I was called to make another LEAP – this time quite literally off of a 35 foot pole atop which was a teeny tiny platform that was 1′ x 2′ in area. My partner for that little step up was Lisa Cherney of Stand Out and Be Juicy Fame – she and I were required to go towards the end in our small group – mostly because we normally are the type to just GO FOR IT.   This was really powerful in a number of ways – it allowed those who would normally “stand back” “wait it out” “watch to see what happens” and then “maybe I’ll do it after someone else goes” people to step up and become empowered.  It was truly magical to watch the first woman Helen get up there – all the time saying “I can’t do this – I can’t” and then coaching herself right out of it and saying LOUDLY for all to hear – I CAN yes I CAN do this! I CAN!  I’m DOING it I CAN!!  Amazing.  Here’s the video of my Jump for Joy!  Why? Because LEADERS Leap!!

So what’s all this got to do with joy and the title of my post?  Well one of the exercises in the mastermind was a process of finding the words to describe the benefits of our work.  This is an area that I’ve been really working hard at crystallizing for myself over the last several months.  Words are the bridges that we use to reach out and touch those who are waiting to find the great work that will transform their lives and bring them to a higher level of awareness and understanding of their true purpose and greatness. With out the words to create that bridge it’s pretty challenging to illuminate a path that might be useful for those people to take and what has been doubly frustrating for me has been the fact that I am constantly told how gifted I am with my writing.

The thing about writing to engage folks in a conversation that ultimately leads to an engagement for services is that it is a wildly different animal then writing to share, to educate or to inspire (although all of those aspects are also included in the best of sales writing).  Creating an E- emotional connection is a powerful force to help activate people into making the decision to engage which is the first step on the transformational journey that EVERYONE must make on their own.  When writing the marketing/sales materials – our work is to create clarity and connection that will allow the reader to see themselves in the words – where they are RIGHT NOW – as well as to identify that this particular type of transformative work will take them where they REALLY WANT TO BE  – at least to the extent that it gets them on the phone to have a deeper dialog or helps them to decide to enroll in this or that teleclass, workshop or experience.

Again what does that have to do with the title of this post?  Well in my small group on the night that we were exploring the marketing component of our business and trying to get at the language that describes our benefits – one of the words that kept coming through for me and for one of my other partners in the group was joy.

So here was the exercise:  Pick just ONE benefit of your services – I picked “This work will help you learn to set and maintain clear boundaries”.  The next step was for us to talk about what the benefit of that benefit was – so the question that our other team members were asked to ask us was “What’s the benefit of that?” several times – and each time we had to go deeper and deeper into the benefit of the benefit.  One of the team members was the scribe and here’s what he wrote for me:

“This work will help you learn to set and maintain clear boundaries” – What’s the benefit of that?

“You’ll have greater empowerment around decisions” – What’s the benefit of that?

“When u can set boundaries clearly, your energy doesn’t get drained” – What’s the benefit of that?

“If you lose your energy, you’re aren’t able to make a powerful decision” – What’s the benefit of that?

“You’re able to be in your energetic integrity, your not losing your power when you set your boundaries” – What’s the benefit of that?

“You are able to make decisions and interact with people from a place of fullness, you’re really in your power” – What’s the benefit of that?

“You have a sense of fullness, you feel whole.  – you don’t feel torn in a lot of different directions you feel more full” – What’s the benefit of that?

“When you feel full you are able to serve at the highest level” – What’s the benefit of that?

“When you serve at the highest level you are living your purpose” – What’s the benefit of that?

“If you are living your purpose, you come into a place of joy”

I was really JOYOUS when I walked into Miraval and was greeted by a Butterfly Amethyst!

At that point my time was up – and I had landed at the NEBULOUS place – that place called JOY.  There is an energy and a vibration that JOY holds – that if you haven’t experienced it yourself can be quite difficult to describe – there are some things that are beyond words, joy is one of them.  It’s kind of like trying to describe to someone what it’s like to be a parent when they’ve never had a child – virtually impossible.   However just because it’s difficult to describe DOES NOT mean that it’s impossible to attain.  In fact the place of joy is a very real and tangible place on the spectrum of vibrations and it’s something that can not only be reached but cultivated.

One of the most heart opening and transformational teachers whose work facilitated my own transformation to a space where I can and regularly do access joy is Marianne Williamson – in her book A Return To Love – I found permission to love myself enough to end my first marriage and I credit Marianne’s wisdom and guidance accessed through her writings with setting me firmly on my path to awakening.  In fact I still have her books on my shelf and I’ve got a perpetual calendar on my kitchen counter that I go to every day for a dose of Marianne’s wisdom and inspiration – today’s is so appropriate to this blog post that I want to share it with you all:

“Joy is our goal, our destiny.  We cannot know who we are except  in joy.  Not knowing joy, we do not know ourselves.  When we are without joy, we grope in the dark.  When we are without joy, we grope in the dark.  When we are centered in joy, we attain our wisdom.”  (Marianne Williamson from her perpetual calendar A Year of Daily Wisdom)

What Do a Hole in the Ground, Jamesons, Sales & My Dad Have in Common?

Recently I wrote a pretty extensive post about a shamanic ceremonial weekend that I engaged in during a brilliant weekend in October in New York.  As a shaman, a woman of medicine and a wounded healer I am constantly attending to and honing my own Spirit in addition to adding additional “tools” into my toolbox so that I may continue to enhance my abilities to be of service to those who are called to engage in their own deep inner work with me.

One of the things that has evolved for me over the past year is a clarification of exactly whom it is I am here to serve at this time – Evolving Entrepreneurs – like me – in the areas of interest that I myself have explored over the last several years – transformational coach/trainers, artists, speakers, performers, authors, and practitioners in the alternative healing arts.

In order to serve this segment of the marketplace and to further enhance and enrich my abilities as an evolving entrepreneur myself I’ve also taken to “honing my Spirit” in the area of entrepreneurship and to exploring those areas within my own business that I desire to strengthen and improve.  In the incredibly fast paced world we live in and in the arena of Internet marketing where I have chosen to engage in order to spread my message and share my services I’ve discovered there are LOTS of areas of learning that have come up for me to enroll in!
